Figma Sites vs Framer, from a designer’s point of view

One publishes straight from the Figma file you already work in, and it is still in beta. The other is a dedicated website builder that has had years to mature.

Every figure read off both vendors’ own pages on

The short answer.

If your team already pays for Figma seats and the site is simple, Figma Sites saves a tool. If the site needs a strong CMS, heavy motion or a free start, Framer is the safer choice.

  • Pick Figma Sites if

The design already lives in Figma. You copy a design across from Figma Design, and prototype connections become interactions.

You publish more than one site. Sites comes with a Full seat, and Figma sets no limit on published sites.

Your team is in Figma all day. The same files, comments and seats your team already pays for.

You want React in the page. Code components written by hand or with AI render on the published site.

  • Pick Framer if

The site needs to be free first. Framer publishes on a free Framer domain, and Figma needs a paid plan to go live.

Motion is the work. Scroll effects, component variants and page transitions are what Framer is built around.

The CMS has to carry weight. Up to 2,500 items on Pro, where Figma Sites caps a collection at 200 during the beta.

You need localization or testing. Locales at $20 each and A/B testing are add-ons on Framer's pricing page, and Figma lists neither for Sites.

Side by side.

Neither column is ours. Figma Sites is in beta, so its limits are the ones Figma lists today.

What actually decides it.

Seats against sites, a beta against a finished product, and where the design lives.

Per person against per site

A Figma Professional Full seat is $16 a month billed yearly, and Figma sets no limit on published sites. Framer Basic is $10 a month per site billed yearly, plus $20 a month for each extra editor.

One designer with one site pays less on Framer. One designer with five sites, or a team already on Full seats, pays less on Figma Sites.

Free to try against free to publish

You can design a site in Figma Sites on any plan, but going live needs a paid plan. Framer publishes free on a Framer domain, and a custom domain starts on Basic.

A beta has beta limits

Figma Sites lists 200 items per CMS collection, no filtering or sorting of CMS lists, and no fonts from your own computer yet. Its custom domains are free of charge through 2025, and Figma says that may change after 2025.

Framer’s CMS runs to 2,500 items on Pro, with localization, analytics and A/B testing on its pricing page.

Where the design lives

In Figma Sites the design never leaves Figma: you copy it across from Figma Design and prototype connections become interactions. Framer imports from Figma through its official plugin, and after that the site lives in Framer.

Taking the site with you

Figma says a site’s code cannot be exported for external publishing. Framer’s own help pages disagree with each other on export, so ask Framer before you rely on it.

What is Figma Sites?

Figma’s own website builder: you design pages with breakpoints inside Figma and publish them to a figma.site address or your own domain. It has been in open beta since Config 2025.

How much does Figma Sites cost?

Sites comes with a Full seat on a paid Figma plan: $16 a month on Professional billed yearly or $20 monthly, $55 on Organization and $90 on Enterprise, both billed yearly. There is no separate per-site price.

Is Figma Sites free?

No, not to publish: you can design a site on any plan, but Figma says publishing to a live domain requires a paid plan. Framer’s free plan publishes on a Framer domain.

Is Figma Sites better than Framer?

For a team already on Figma Full seats with simple sites, it saves a tool. For a large CMS, heavy motion, localization or a free start, Framer is ahead, and Figma Sites is still in beta.

Does Figma Sites have a CMS?

Yes, on every plan, with collections limited to 200 items each during the beta and no filtering or sorting of lists yet. Framer’s Pro plan holds 10 collections and 2,500 items.

Can you export code from Figma Sites?

No. Figma says it is not currently possible to export a site’s code for external publishing.

Where Siter.io fits.

We make Siter.io, so this is the one section about us.

Siter.io publishes Figma designs on its own hosting, priced per plan rather than per seat or per site: a plugin sends the frame across, on every plan, and you place each breakpoint’s layout on its own canvas. It publishes free at name.getsiter.com or on your own domain from $7/mo billed yearly, priced per plan: Plus at $12 a month publishes 3 sites.

It has gaps: no CMS or blog, prototype animations and interactions do not import, and there is no re-sync, so later Figma edits stay in Figma. The Free plan publishes one website of up to 3 pages with our badge.

If you need a CMS or Framer’s motion, pick one of the two above; our Framer comparison sets out the same trade against the other column.

A third option,
if neither fits.

If you want a Figma design live on your own domain, Siter.io imports the frame and publishes it, priced per plan rather than per seat or per site.
