Upload a PDF or any file to your website and link to it

Host PDFs, documents, audio and video with your site, and link any button, image or line of text to them. Visitors open or download the file in one click.

A PDF is uploaded to a website's Files tab in Siter.io, shows Checking… while its contents are checked, then joins the list of hosted files with its size and who uploaded it, under the note that anyone with a file's link can download it.

Your files, hosted with your site.

  • The files visitors ask for

Menus, brochures, price lists, slide decks and recordings, each checked as it uploads.

    8 kinds of file

    • PDF
    • Word
    • Excel
    • PowerPoint
    • Text
    • Images
    • Audio
    • Video
  • One link for everywhere

Copy a file's link for an email, a post or a QR code, so one PDF serves the site and everything around it.

  • Warned before a link breaks

Deleting a file first names the pages that link to it, so nothing breaks by surprise.

Live in three steps.

  1. Upload the file

Open your website's Files tab and choose Upload files, or drop it into the Files panel in the editor.

  2. Link it

Select a button or a line of text, choose File under Click Action, and pick the file.

  3. Publish and click

Publish the page and open the link from the live site, the way a visitor will.

How do I upload a PDF to my website?

Upload it in your website's Files tab, then select the button or text that should open it and choose the file under Click Action. Publish, and the PDF opens in the visitor's browser like a page.

What file types can I host on my website?

29 types of documents, images, audio and video, from PDF, Word, Excel and PowerPoint to MP3 and MP4. Archives, executables, scripts, SVG and HTML files cannot be uploaded, and Office files with macros are turned away.

Are the files I upload private?

No. Anyone with a file's link can download it, with no password or sign-in in front of it, so keep private documents somewhere built to share them privately.

Can I host files on the free plan?

No. The File Manager is on the paid plans, with storage shared across all your websites (see the plans). The Free plan publishes one website at name.getsiter.com with no file uploads.

What happens if my files are downloaded more than my plan allows?

Your files keep working, and you get an email at 80% and at 100%. Only going over two months in a row pauses new uploads, until the next month or straight away if you upgrade.

Can I put a video on my web page?

Yes, but a video in the File Manager downloads when clicked rather than playing on the page. YouTube embeds on every plan; videos and images dragged into the editor can be up to 10MB, on paid plans.

Put the file next to the
page that needs it.

Upload the PDF, link the button to it, publish, and click the link yourself from the live page.
