Restore a previous version of your website

Every page keeps its earlier versions for 30 days. Pick a time, see the page as it was on the canvas, and put it back with one button.

The Siter.io editor in Version History: an earlier version of a bakery's home page, from October 16 at 6 PM, is picked in the list and shown on the canvas with its photo and loaves back, ready for Restore this version.

Undo the edit you regret.

  • Hourly, then daily, for 30 days

Versions sit an hour apart for a day, three a day for a week, and one a day up to 30 days.

    30 days of versions

    1. Every hourfor a day
    2. 3 a dayfor a week
    3. 1 a dayto 30 days
  • Each page has its own history

Open View Version History from the editor's menu and only the page you are on goes back.

  • Removed entries come back too

A form entry you remove waits in Removed entries until you check it and press Restore.

Deleted a page? It waits.

Recently deleted sits under your pages and keeps each one for 14 days, with the date you can bring it back until.

  1. Recently deleted

Deleted pages wait under the Pages grid instead of disappearing.

  2. Kept for 14 days

Two weeks to change your mind. The home page cannot be deleted at all.

  3. Restorable until

Every row shows the last day you can bring that page back.

  4. Restore

The page returns as it was, and a page that was live goes live again.

Back in three steps.

  1. Open Version History

In the editor, open the menu, then Page, and choose View Version History.

  2. Pick a time

Choose a version in the list and the canvas shows the page as it was then.

  3. Restore and publish

Press Restore this version, look the page over, and publish it.

How do I restore a previous version of my website?

Open the page in the editor, then the menu, Page and View Version History. Pick a version, press Restore this version, and publish the page. History is kept for each page, so a change that touched several pages is restored page by page.

How long is version history kept?

Thirty days. Versions are an hour apart for the last day, three a day for the last week and one a day after that, and older ones are deleted. For a change you may want to undo later than that, duplicate the page or the website first.

How do I recover a deleted page?

From Recently deleted, under the grid on the website's Pages screen. A deleted page waits there for 14 days, and Restore brings it back as it was. The home page cannot be deleted.

Can I restore a deleted website?

Yes, within 14 days. Deleting a website takes it offline at once; it then waits in Recently deleted on the Websites page, and Restore brings it back online with its pages and form entries.

Can I recover deleted form submissions?

Yes. Removing an entry moves it to Removed entries instead of erasing it. Check the ones you want back there and press Restore.

Is version history the same as a backup?

No. It lets you go back inside Siter.io, within 30 days for versions and 14 for deleted pages and websites. Keep your own copies of the words, images and files you could not recreate.

Change the page without worrying
about the last one.

Make the edit, look at it live, and if it was a mistake, put the earlier page back from Version History.
