How to name a clothing brand

Picture it on the label first. A clothing name lives on a neck tag, a hang tag and a shipping box, so it has to look right small and in one color. Short names help: most labels people remember are one to three words.

Decide what the name should signal before you pick one. Static Youth and Maison Sable would never hang on the same rail, and a shopper reads that difference before seeing the clothes. If the name feels wrong for your price or your customer, it will keep working against you.

Leave room to grow. A name built around one product, one city or one season can box you in when you add a second line. Your own name is a fair choice too, though it is harder to sell the brand later if it carries your name.

What to check before you print anything

The generator combines words at random, so it cannot know whether a name is taken. Fashion is crowded, so do this before you order labels:

  • Search trademarks. In the US that is the USPTO's trademark search, and clothing has its own class. Ask a lawyer if a similar name turns up.
  • Search the marketplaces. Try the name on Instagram, Etsy and the big shopping sites, where small labels show up long before they register anything.
  • Look for the domain and handles. Check them together. Adding "studio", "goods" or "apparel" often frees up the name you want.
  • Check the meaning. If you plan to sell abroad, make sure the name says nothing unfortunate in those languages.

Clothing brand name ideas by style

Minimal and modern names are plain and calm, like Common Hours or Slow Tide. They suit basics and small collections.

Streetwear names have some attitude, like Static Youth or Concrete Bloom. They suit drops and graphics.

Luxury and elegant names borrow from the old houses, like Maison Sable or Saint Vesper. They suit tailoring and higher prices.

Natural and handmade names sound like the material, like Loom & Lark or Palm & Pine. They suit linen, knitwear and small batches.

Vintage and retro names sound like an old shop, like Daybreak Denim or Golden Thimble. They suit workwear and denim.

All free tools
How do I come up with a name for my clothing brand?

Start with who it is for and how it should feel. Generate a few sets in the closest style, copy anything you could picture on a neck tag, then show your favorites to people who would actually buy from you.

Can I include my own word?

Yes. Type a word or short phrase in the first box, such as your surname, a fabric or a place, and most of the results will carry it.

Are these names free to use?

The generator costs nothing and does not claim any rights, but it cannot tell you whether another brand already uses a name. Run a trademark search and check the web address before you print anything. A short block list stops a few famous brands, but it is not a trademark check.

Does this use AI?

No. It joins hand-picked words in your browser, so results appear at once and nothing you type is sent anywhere.

Does it work for a shop or a boutique?

Yes. The same styles work for a boutique or a resale shop. Add a word like Boutique or Vintage in the first box.

Can I sell my clothes on a Siter.io website?

Siter.io has no checkout or online store. You can build the brand's site, with your lookbook and your story, and link each piece to where people buy it. See the templates.

I have a name. How do I make a logo for it?

Type it into the logo maker, start from an idea you like, and download it as an SVG or a PNG.
