Weebly is winding down in 67 countries. Here is what to do.

1. Check whether your country is affected. It is 67 named countries, and the list does not include the US, the UK, Canada, Australia or western Europe. Read Square’s notice and find your own country rather than taking ours for it.
2. Download your data. Account Settings, then My Data, then Download My Data. For a single site, Website, Edit Site, Settings, Archive. Do this now — after 26 December 2026 affected accounts lose login access entirely.
3. Start the domain transfer early. You need to disable the registrar lock and copy the EPP authorization code. ICANN blocks a transfer within 60 days of registration, and within 60 days of any change to registrant contact details, so December is too late to begin.

None of that requires choosing a new builder. Do it this week, then take your time on the rest.

• 29 June 2026 — publishing new pages stopped. If you have been unable to add a page, this is why.
• 20 September 2026 — services wind down.
• 27 September 2026 — sites are unpublished. Your site stops being on the internet on this date.
• 26 December 2026 — account login access ends. After this you cannot get your content out at all.

Weebly states that essential plan features keep working until 27 September. The gap between that date and 26 December exists precisely so people can export, so use it.

• No e-commerce. It is listed as upcoming, with no date. Weebly had a cart, unlimited items, digital goods, shipping and tax. If you were selling, look at Squarespace or Wix instead — we have a page on the first.
• No CMS, collections or blog. If the Weebly site had a blog you actually published to, this is a real loss.
• The free plan does not publish. The free plan builds and previews privately; publishing needs a paid plan. Weebly’s free plan was a live site with Square ads on it.
• Responsive work is three fixed breakpoints, laid out by you rather than handled by a template.
• You bring the design. Weebly gave you templates. We give you a canvas and a Figma import, which is more control and more work.
• Code export is limited. HTML download on Pro only; the contents of the export are not documented.

What you get instead: a canvas that positions things rather than dropping them into template slots, the Figma import on every plan including the free one, hosting and SSL included, and editors inside the plan at 2 on Solo and 6 on Pro.

Where else to look

Be honest with yourself about what the Weebly site was. A shop belongs on Squarespace or Wix. A blog you publish to belongs on WordPress. A one-page profile belongs on Carrd, which costs $19 a year. We are the right answer for a small designed site of a handful of pages, and the wrong one for the rest.

What is Weebly?

A drag-and-drop website and online-store builder, launched in 2006 and bought by Square in 2018. You pick a template and drop sections into it. It has been aimed at small businesses and shops rather than at designers, and it has no Figma route or design canvas.

Who owns Weebly?

Square, which acquired it in 2018 and is now part of Block. That is who is running the wind-down — the notice and the dates come from Square, not from a third party.

Is Weebly free?

There is a free plan that publishes a live site with Square ads on it and no custom domain. Paid plans start at EUR 11 a month billed annually on the EU price sheet, which is where connecting your own domain and removing the ads begin. In the 67 affected countries all of this ends on 27 September 2026.

How much does Weebly cost?

Read from Europe, Personal is EUR 11 a month billed annually or EUR 14 monthly, Professional is EUR 17, and Performance is EUR 30. Weebly serves its pricing page by region, so those are the EU figures and we have not converted them.

Is Weebly good?

For what it was built for — a small business site with a shop attached, built by someone who is not a designer — it has been a reasonable product for nearly twenty years. The question has stopped being whether it is good and started being whether it will still be there. If your country is on Square’s list, it will not be.

How do I transfer a Weebly site to WordPress?

There is no direct import. Weebly’s export gives you content and data through Account Settings, My Data, Download My Data, or a single site through Settings, Archive — not a site file WordPress reads. In practice you export the content, install WordPress, pick a theme and rebuild the pages, then transfer the domain separately with its EPP code.
