Weebly is winding down in 67 countries. Here is what to do.

If your country is on Square’s list, your site is unpublished on 27 September 2026 and your account closes on 26 December. Export your data first, then choose a builder.

Do this first.

We sell a website builder, but these three steps matter wherever you land. None of them needs a new builder, so do them this week.

  1. Check your country. The 67 named countries do not include the US, the UK, Canada, Australia or western Europe. Find yours in Square’s notice, “Changes to Weebly global operations” in the weebly.com help center.
  2. Download your data. Account Settings, My Data, Download My Data; for one site, Website, Edit Site, Settings, Archive. After 26 December 2026 affected accounts lose login access entirely.
  3. Start the domain transfer early. Disable the registrar lock and copy the EPP authorization code. ICANN blocks a transfer within 60 days of registration or of a registrant contact change, so December is too late.

The four dates

  • 29 June 2026: publishing new pages stopped.
  • 20 September 2026: services wind down.
  • 27 September 2026: sites are unpublished.
  • 26 December 2026: account login ends, and with it any way to get your content out.

They apply to the 67 affected countries only. Weebly says essential plan features work until 27 September, and the gap to 26 December is there for exporting.

Weebly served us its EU sheet, so its figures are in euros and not converted. In affected countries they stop mattering on 27 September.

Where Weebly wins.

Outside the affected countries, with a site that works, moving would be a wasted weekend.

  • A shop that already works

    A cart, unlimited items, digital goods, shipping and tax calculation, all in the subscription. Siter.io has no e-commerce and lists it as upcoming with no date.

  • It publishes free

    A free Weebly site is live, with Square ads on it. Siter.io's Free plan is live too, at name.getsiter.com, but with 3 pages and 1 form.

  • Your data comes out

    Weebly documents a Download My Data path in Account Settings and a per-site Archive under Settings. It is content rather than a built site, but it is documented and it works.

  • It is already running

    For a site that exists, works and is not in an affected country, there is no argument for moving it. This page is for people who have been told to move.

Why people are moving.

Three of these four are the wind-down and its consequences, all from Square’s own notice.

  • It is being wound down in 67 countries

    Square states it is winding down Weebly services in 67 named countries. Affected customers stopped being able to publish new pages on 2026-06-29, sites are unpublished on 2026-09-27, and account access ends on 2026-12-26. The list does not include the US, UK, Canada, Australia or western Europe.

  • There is a hard date on your data

    After 2026-12-26 affected users lose login access entirely. Everything has to come out through Account Settings, My Data, Download My Data, or per-site through Website, Edit Site, Settings, Archive, before that date.

  • Your domain needs moving separately

    A domain bought through Weebly has to be transferred to another registrar with an EPP code, and ICANN rules block a transfer within 60 days of registration or of any registrant contact change. Start it early rather than in December.

  • No Figma route and no design canvas

    Weebly is a template and drag-and-drop builder with no Figma import. A design you already have approved is rebuilt inside its editor with the controls it gives you.

How moving goes.

Weebly gives you your content, not your site, and no builder will.

  1. Download your data before 26 December 2026.
  2. Unlock the domain and get the EPP code.
  3. Rebuild the pages that still matter.
  4. Point the domain at the new site.

What the Weebly export contains

Download My Data gives your content and account data; the per-site Archive gives that site’s content. Neither is a site another builder imports, and nobody, Siter.io included, has a Weebly importer.

If the site exists in Figma, the import runs on every plan including free, one-way import, no re-sync. Prototype animations and interactions do not import; otherwise the export is your text and images.

The domain has the hard deadline, so get the EPP code early. The custom domain guide covers pointing it at a new host.

What you give up.

Siter.io is narrower than Weebly. If your Weebly site was a shop, we are the wrong destination.

  • No e-commerce. It is listed as upcoming, with no date, where Weebly had a cart, digital goods, shipping and tax. If you were selling, look at Squarespace or Wix; we have a page on the first.
  • No CMS, collections or blog. If you published to a Weebly blog, this is a real loss.
  • A small free plan. Ours is live at name.getsiter.com with our badge rather than Square ads, but holds 3 pages and 1 form, and your own domain needs a paid plan.
  • Responsive is yours to lay out. A separate layout for each breakpoint: Desktop 1200, Tablet 640 and Mobile 375 by default, plus any custom width you add, where a Weebly template did it for you.
  • You make the design. Instead of templates you get a canvas, a Figma import and Siter AI to draft a layout from a description: more control, more work.
  • Limited code export. HTML download on Pro only, one page at a time: a ZIP with the page's HTML and its images, CSS and JavaScript, not a full-site export.

Be honest about what the Weebly site was. A shop belongs on Squarespace or Wix, a blog on WordPress, a one-page profile on Carrd at $19 a year; a small designed site of a handful of pages belongs here.

What is Weebly?

A drag-and-drop website and online-store builder, launched in 2006 and bought by Square in 2018. It is aimed at small businesses and shops, with templates and no Figma route or design canvas.

Who owns Weebly?

Square, which bought it in 2018 and is now part of Block. Square is running the wind-down, and the notice and dates come from Square.

Is Weebly free?

There is a free plan with Square ads and no custom domain, and paid plans start at EUR 11 a month billed annually on the EU sheet. In the 67 affected countries all of it ends on 27 September 2026.

How much does Weebly cost?

On the EU sheet, Personal is EUR 11 a month billed annually or EUR 14 monthly, Professional EUR 17 and Performance EUR 30. Weebly prices by region, and we have not converted them.

Is Weebly good?

For a small business site with a shop, built by a non-designer, it has been a reasonable product for nearly twenty years. The question now is whether it will be there, and in the affected countries it will not.

How do I transfer a Weebly site to WordPress?

There is no direct import: export the content, install WordPress, pick a theme, rebuild the pages and move the domain with its EPP code. Any builder, us included, works the same way; see our WordPress comparison.
