Pick Framer if the site is design work and the motion matters. Pick Wix if the site has to take bookings or payments, or needs a content model bigger than a few thousand items.

The motion is the work. Scroll effects, component variants and page transitions are what Framer is built around.
You are working from Figma. Framer imports a Figma design, where Wix does it only in Wix Studio, one page at a time.
You only want to learn one editor. Framer is one product with one price sheet, where Wix first makes you choose between Wix Editor and Wix Studio.
You want AI drafting pages. Basic includes 1,000 AI credits a month and a landing page costs roughly 300, where Wix states no quota.

The site has to take money. Payments, e-commerce, bookings and invoicing are tiers of the same subscription, and Framer's pricing page lists no selling at all.
You are publishing more than one site. Framer charges per site, and every paid Wix tier includes a free domain for the first year.
The content model has to be big. Wix Studio runs from 1,500 CMS items on Basic to ten million on Elite, against Framer Pro's 2,500.
You want it live for nothing. Wix's free plan publishes a real public site, with Wix ads and a wixsite.com address.

Wix says its prices vary by location and its dollar figures are “displayed for reference only”. Wix Studio is a separate ladder with its own plan names, so it gets its own sheet.

What the money buys.
$10 against $17.77 a month is not the decision. The number of sites is.
Framer is per site, Wix is per plan
Framer’s $10 Basic is charged per site, and every editor beyond the workspace owner is $20 a month, or $10 for a content-only seat. Wix’s $17.77 Light includes two site collaborators, and the Studio ladder starts at three.
One designer with one site pays less on Framer. Running several, do the arithmetic before the feature list.
Choose your Wix first
The classic Wix Editor bills on Light, Core, Business and Business Elite. Wix Studio, the designer and agency product, bills on Basic, Standard, Plus and Elite.
Breakpoints and the Figma plugin exist only in Studio. Compare Framer with Studio, not with the classic Editor.
Wix says no to export, Framer says nothing
Wix runs every site on its servers, because the platform “does not support external hosting since it uses Wix’s proprietary technology”. CMS collections come out as CSV, and blog posts cannot be exported at all.
Framer’s pricing page states no code export either way. If you need to take the site elsewhere, ask Framer before you commit.
Both Figma imports are a head start
Framer imports a Figma design one way, then you rebuild the interactions and responsive behavior. Wix’s plugin, in Studio only, brings frames, text, colors, custom fonts and images under 250kb, one page at a time with no re-sync.
On Wix, menus and forms arrive as plain text, and videos, galleries and input elements are not recognized. Neither import is a handoff, so plan a rebuild before you promise a client a date.

How much does Wix cost?
Wix Editor runs from $17.77 a month on Light to $159.77 on Business Elite, as yearly subscriptions paid in full, and Wix Studio read from Europe starts at EUR 12 a month. Wix says its USD figures are for reference only; Framer’s Basic is $10 a month per site, billed yearly.
Which is better, Framer or Wix?
Framer is better at motion, layout control and coming out of Figma; Wix is better at payments, bookings, invoicing and a content model that goes to millions of items. Pick by which of those describes the site.
What’s the difference between Framer and Wix?
Framer is a design tool that grew publishing, while Wix is a small-business builder that added a designer product, Wix Studio, beside its original editor. Framer charges per site and bills editor seats separately, and Wix has no export of any kind.
Why do designers switch from Wix to Framer?
We have no data on how many do. The reasons people give: the classic Wix Editor has no breakpoint model, the Figma plugin is only in Wix Studio, and Wix cannot export a built site.
When should I use Framer instead of Wix?
When the site is a portfolio, a product page or a launch site where the design and the motion are the point, and there is nothing to sell or schedule. Once it needs a store, a booking calendar or invoicing, Wix is the better fit.
